National Flood Insurance Program Workshops
The Central New York Regional Planning and Development Board (CNY RPDB) hosted two National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) workshops for local code officials and flood plain administrators in the spring of 1999. The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation in Albany conducted the workshops.
The 3-hour workshops were offered at the intermediate level. Although there were no formal prerequisites for attending, it was recommended that participants had either attended NFIP Course I or had some actual experience with NFIP management. Workshop topics included flood insurance studies and maps; flood insurance rate maps; elevation certificates, letters of map
amendments and revisions: retrofitting flood prone structures; and the community ratings system. Workshop participants were eligible to receive three in-service training credits.
