Regional Water Quality Activities Inventory
At the request of the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYSDEC) Region 7 and the Board's Environmental Management Committee, the Central New York Regional Planning and Development Board (CNY RPDB) has been developing an inventory of all of the various water quality projects being conducted in the Central New York Region. This inventory project
involves preparing a database and associated Geographic Information System (GIS) that will ultimately allow users to analyze water quality projects and programs in the region to determine gaps, duplication, effectiveness, funding concentration, and other analytical possibilities. A large amount of data has been collected about water quality projects in the region through
interviews with state, regional and county agencies, non-profit groups, and others involved with water quality efforts in the region. This information has been put into the database, and associated locational points have been entered in GIS. Structural issues with the database and GIS are being defined and adjusted. Once the database and GIS have been constructed, it is
envisioned that the database will be updated on a regular basis.
