Helping Hands for MS4s
April 6, 2016
All across New York, the engineering community provides essential assistance to municipalities that are designated MS4’s. This class, co-instructed with Andy Sansone of Monroe County, will review the MS4 permit, each of the Minimum Measures, and other regulatory requirements that MS4 communities are obligated to meet. Topics to be covered include the various types of inspections, reviews and reports that are necessary for MS4 compliance. Particular focus will be placed on Pollution Prevention, Illicit Discharge Detection and Elimination, and varied Construction and Post-Construction requirements with an emphasis on engineering elements. The class will also include the preparation of a typical MS4 annual report, and will cover what to expect from a DEC and EPA MS4 Audit.
Representatives from NYSDEC Central Office will participate in the class, providing an opportunity for participants to interact directly with the regulatory agency on issues relating to the MS4 permit.
