2011-2012 Stormwater Training Series
The Central New York Regional Planning and Development Board (CNY RPDB) is pleased to present the Fall 2011/Spring 2012 Stormwater Management Training Series. This series of full-day courses—previously taught by Don Lake, Jr., P.E—will prepare participants to meet the challenges of effective stormwater management. Continuing education credits will be available for all completed courses.

Free parking is available in the lot directly across from the Center of Excellence building on the south west corner of the intersection of Almond and E. Water Streets (access from Almond Street). Unmetered, on-street parking is also available on East Washington Street.
General Course Information
The registration fee for each course is $230 which includes course handouts, lunch and refreshments. Please refer to the online registration form for details regarding cancellation and refund policies. Payment is by credit card and purchase order only. Courses may require the use of the NYS Stormwater Management Design Manual and/ or the NYS Standards and Specifications for Erosion & Sediment Control. You may download them for free from the NYS DEC website or order hardcopies through the Empire State Chapter Soil & Water Conservation Society.
Seven PDHs will be awarded for each completed course. All courses will run from 8:30 AM until 4:30 PM. Sign-in for each course begins at 8:00 AM. Principle Instructor: John Dunkle, P.E., CPESC, CMS4S
Following 6-years of co-teaching professional stormwater courses with Don Lake, Jr., John is ready to fill the role left vacant upon Don’s retirement from teaching in 2010. John has been a practicing civil engineer since 1981, and holds national certifications as a Professional in Erosion and Sediment Control (CPESC), and Municipal Separate Storm Sewer System Specialist (CMS4S). Working with both private developers and municipalities, John is experienced in all aspects of site planning and project development, and the preparation and review of Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans. John participated with NYS DEC in the development of the current stormwater regulations. In addition to conducting stormwater trainings for contractors, developers, and engineers, John also provides professional compliance guidance to MS4 officials, and teaches graduate level Stormwater Management classes at SUNY-ESF.
Co-Instructor: Deb Caraco, P.E.
For the past 12 years, Deb has worked as a watershed engineer for the Center for Watershed Protection where she has gained extensive experience working with local and state governments nationwide to craft ordinances, assist with watershed planning, and complete stormwater management designs. Deb’s previous positions included Stormwater Management Specialist with the New York State Soil and Water Conservation Committee, and practicing engineer with T.G. Miller Engineers and Surveyors. Deb worked directly with the NYS DEC on the development of the 2003 NYS Stormwater Management Design Manual.
