Syracuse Urban Area Maps
The term "urbanized area" refers to a land area comprising one or more central places and the adjacent densely settled surrounding area(s) that together have a minimum residential population of 50,000 and a minimum average population density of 1,000 people per square mile. The Syracuse Urban Area (SUA) includes portions of
31 municipalities
in Madison, Onondaga and Oswego Counties.

Syracuse Urban Area Maps
The Central New York Regional Planning and Development Board utilized GIS technology to create planning maps to assist the automatically designated MS4s in the Syracuse Urban Area. The hydrologic characteristics of the SUA that are identified on these maps may provide natural focal points for intermunicipal collaborative efforts.
